“We’ve created an online application process for Twitter accounts to receive verified status.

Verified accounts on Twitter allow people to identify key individuals and organizations on Twitter as authentic, and are denoted by a blue badge icon. An account may be verified if it is determined to be of public interest. Typically this includes accounts maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.

The blue verified badge  on Twitter lets people know that an account of public interest is authentic.

For applying for this process, you need to have a confirmed email address, verified phone number, bio, profile photo, cover photo, birthday, website, Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings. At this time,  your account needs to be of public interest to be verified. After submitting your request for verification you can expect the following question from twitter:

  • If the account for verification represent a person, then you have to provide your impact on the field or if it a company then you have to provide your mission
  • URLs that support your relevancy in specific field
  • You have to confirm your identity by providing the legible copy of your ID proof

Verified account helps you find out authentic key individuals and organisation on twitter with a blue badge. You can easily find this badge next to the account’s profile and on the account name in search results.
